Directions

To make Veg Manchurian balls Step 1

Take a bowl with 2 cups of finely grated cabbage. Mix the ingredients of list 1 one after the other. Start with garam masala powder or any spice powder available. Then add red pepper powder, ginger garlic pest and mix well for a minute. Since the cabbage has water in it, your mixture will turn wet.

Step 2

Add 1 tbsp corn flour and 1 tbsp all-purpose flour in the mixture and combine well. Do not add flour all at once. Mix it well for 1 minute and repeat the process. You will have doughy consistency of the combined mixture. Now take a spoonful of mixture, roll it on your palm and make Manchurian balls as per the size of your preference. You can deep freeze these balls for 10 mins if you want to.

Step 3

Take a deep frying pan or deep pot or skillet, add the oil. Make sure it is enough deep to totally submerge manchurian balls in the oil. Heat the oil on a high flame. Once the oil is medium hot, place the veg balls using slotted spoon. It should sizzle as soon as they touch the oil. Fry it until it turns golden. You can notice that veg balls once placed goes deep in oil and they float on the surface once they are fried. Dish out veg balls on a paper.

To make Manchurian sauce / gravy – Step 4
Thickness of the Manchurian gravy

Take any shallow frying pan. Add 1 tablespoon oil. Here we will add the ingredients of list 2 to make gravy. Once the oil is hot, add chopped garlic. Sauté it for 1 minute. Later add chopped onion, green chilies and roughly chopped fresh green capsicum. Mix well and sauté it for another minute. Add spice. You can add these sauces as per your preferred spice level.

Step 5

Add black pepper powder, ketchup and red chili sauce. Keep stirring the mixture. Add dark soy sauce or any available soy sauce in it. Stir in salt into the mixture. Make a note that Soy sauce has salt in it, hence taste the mixture before putting salt in it or else it will turn entire mixture salty.

Step 6

Since the mixture is cooked, now it’s a time to add half cup of water in it. Water will make the mixture thin. Take a small bowl, add 1 tsp corn flour and 3 tsp water in it. Mix well and stir it in the main gravy mixture. This will bind the main gravy and will make it little thick.

Keep stirring the mixture for 30 seconds and place fried Manchurian balls into the gravy. Give few tosses and mix it well as the veg balls get completely rolled in the mixture.

Toss Veg Balls in a sauce
