Egg Salad in Southern Style

A traditional Southern dish that is typically served on sandwiches is southern-style egg salad. Hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, sweet pickle relish, finely chopped celery, finely chopped onion (either sweet or red onion), salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and sugar are all used to make it. The recipe can be altered by adding various herbs and spices, such as fresh or dried dill weed, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, spicy sauce, and garlic powder.

For generations, Southern Style Egg Salad has been a staple of American cuisine and is still a crowd favourite.

Ingredients :

  • 8 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions :

  • Make hard boiled eggs first.
  • Once it is boiled let it cool.
  • Cut all eggs in half. Take off the yolk and put it in a big bowl.
  • Now use a spatula, spoon or fork break all egg yolks in smooth texture.
  • Add in Mustard and Mayo.
  • Mix it well for a minute.
  • Chop all the egg whites and add it to the yolk bowl.
  • Add salt and black pepper as per the taste.

Before serving, wrap the bowl in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Serve cold with crackers or toast.

You can even store it in a tight container and use it for 3 days.
